The new student credit card from Discover is one that not only spends well; it also looks good. The Discover Student Card – Monogram Collection is the newest release from the credit card company that made it easy for college students to get their hands on credit. In addition to the fact that the cards look good, there are plenty of reasons why students might choose to make Discover their credit provider. With a low introductory rate and easy to understand fees, students will always feel comfortable when dealing with Discover.

The card comes in three different colors – onyx, flamingo, and key lime – but the options don’t stop there. The Discover Student Card – Monogram Collection is designed to help students learn how credit works and to help them figure out how to use that credit effectively. The best thing about the card is the low introductory rate. At 0% APR, it can’t really get any lower. For six months, students will be able to take advantage of this non-existent interest rate on all of their purchases. This means that students won’t be facing huge interest fee charges during their first couple of months with the card. Discover hopes that this measure helps students break into credit card spending slowly.

Once the introductory period runs out, the card reverts back to an interest rate of just under 17%. Though this is certainly not a great rate by any means, it is affordable for students. When coupled with the other things that the card offers to students, this is a pretty good rate that makes the card quite affordable.

Another thing about this card that students will like is the fact that the fees are pretty low. Students screw up sometimes, especially when the money gets tight. That is something that Discover understands. With that in mind, late fees and over the limit fees are less than $20 for this card. That is about half of what most credit card companies charge for those same indiscretions.
